Have you ever seen an arborist climbing around up in the canopy of a big shade tree before? If you have then you know it can be pretty fun to watch. Don’t be fooled, however, by how the guy up there appears to be monkeying around. Tree climbing can be alot of hard work (not to mention that swinging around so far above the ground can be quite a physiological ordeal  for those less accustomed to the heights).

Well as you may have seen, a good tree climber has a solid working knowledge of ropes, knots, and technical rigging gear. We thought that you might like a closer look.

Here is Eric Whipple from WhippleTree in Westport Ma. We meet Eric at New England Grows this year at the Shelter Tree booth demonstrating some various climbing techniques.
